In histological terms, there are three different types of cancer mesothelioma disease : sarcomatoid, epithelial and biphasic. Malignant sarcomatoid mesothelioma is the least common of the three mesothelioma types. Malignant sarcomatoid mesothelioma cells when viewed under a microscope, appear as cells elongated spindle-shaped that are irregularly shaped and another overlap one another. Sarcoma cells and sarcomatoid mesothelioma cells can have a similar appearance under an electron microscope, and the staining of the tumor cells can provide similar results.
